How much data does Battlefield V Firestorm use?

how much data does battlefield 5 use

In Battlefield V’s battle royale mode, Firestorm, up to 64 players (16 squads of 4 players) fight to the death as a destructive fire slowly engulfs the warmap. Because more players mean more stat and location data, Firestorm uses more internet data than any other Battlefield V mode.

If you play Battlefield V on a limited 4G LTE connection, you might need to monitor your data use to keep it below your monthly data cap. Here’s how much mobile data you use playing Battlefield V Firestorm on your PC, Playstation 4, or Xbox One:

How much data do you use downloading Battlefield V?

Game downloads typically use much more data than playing the game. Sometimes, the hour you spend downloading a new game onto your console uses as much data as years of gameplay. Also, the download size of a game tends to increases with each patch and update. These are the download sizes for the standard edition of Battlefield V as of March 2019:

Platform Download size
PC 50 GB (file size, download will be less)
Playstation 4 34.1 GB
Xbox One 46.92 GB

Afraid your data plan won’t support the game download? To preserve mobile data, purchase the disk, instead of the download, and install the game offline.

How much data do you use updating Battlefield V?

So far, EA/DICE have released three updates to Battlefield V (a fourth is expected in the next two weeks). The most recent update had a download size of 1.5 GB on PC, 350 MB on Playstation 4, and 500 MB on Xbox One. Stay up to date with the latest Battlefield V updates here.

If you’re worried about using too much data on updates, keep yourself from going over your monthly data limit by turning off auto-updates and then manually updating the game when you know you have data to spare (at the beginning of the month, for example).

How much data do you use playing Battlefield V Firestorm?

Battlefield V Firestorm uses more than 150 MB of internet data per hour on a full, 64-player server, but the exact amount of mobile data you use playing the game also depends on your frame rate and the tickrate of the server you’re on:

  • A higher frame rate refreshes the game more often, so you exchange more up-to-date data with other players in the game. A lower frame rate will save you data, but also negatively affect your performance since it makes it harder for you to react quickly in the game. In Battlefield V, V-Synch locks your frame rate at 60 fps. To change your frame rate, turn off V-Synch and adjust it manually.
  • The server tickrate also affects your data use. A 128-tick server, which refreshes the game 128 times every second, uses about twice as much data as a 64-tick server, which refreshes the game 64 times every second.
