How much data does Resident Evil 3 use

Resident Evil 3: Resistance includes a 4v1 multiplayer mode where a team of four players competes against an “evil mastermind” bent on their destruction. Unlike single player mode, this new multiplayer mode uses online data. If you play Resident Evil 3 on fixed wireless internet or a mobile hotspot, you may need to keep an eye on how much data it uses so you don’t go over your monthly data limit.

Let’s take a closer look at how much data it takes to download, update, and play Resident Evil 3 on Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Of course, the best way to stay below your monthly data cap while online gaming is to switch to unlimited 5G or 4G LTE.

Resident Evil 3 download size

The initial game download uses much more data than updating or playing the game. Keep in mind that file size is larger than download size (which is usually compressed), and that the Resident Evil 3 file size will increase over time as Capcom releases patches and updates.

Console File size
Microsoft Windows <45 GB
PlayStation 4 45.2 GB
Xbox One 44.78 GB

Resident Evil 3 update size

Small patches for Resident Evil 3 (like the 1.03 Update) are under 300 MB, but other updates are larger. See the update index for details. If you’re worried an update could push you over your data limit, turn off auto-updates and only download patches when you have extra data.

Resident Evil 3 data use

Resident Evil 3 should use less than 100 MB of data per hour, since only five players participate in each multiplayer game. The exact amount of data you’ll use playing Resistance depends on the frame rate of your connection and whether or not you use voice chat in the mode:

  • A higher frame rate refreshes the game more often, which makes it easier to react in real time to what’s going on in the game. A higher frame rate makes the game run faster, but uses more data. You can adjust your frame rate (which is measured in FPS) in your game settings. To change the frame rate, disable vertical synch (V-Synch).
  • Voice chat can use up to 60 MB of data per hour. If you want to reduce your data use while you play Resident Evil 3, disable voice chat in options.
